HIGH POINT, N.C. —Downtown High Point is one step closer to revitalization. In May, Elliott Sidewalk Communities announced its vision to bring new businesses and attractions to the outskirts of the city’s baseball field
On Wednesday, the company unveiled the first development. One of the five buildings it plans to develop will be called Market Center.
“We have 4 acres around the entire outside of the stadium, the outfield. What better real estate to have than that?” owner, Tim Elliott said. “So, we’re going to have some exciting programs. We’re going to have a market, a group hub, sports bar and grill, with balconies overlooking the outfield. It’ll be a great place to come before, after and during the games.”
Market Center will also have retail, restaurants and offices.
“I think Market Center will be the first time that literally is the center of the new downtown of High Point. It’ll be a place to kind of have some market opportunities for residential product downtown that will help attract residential product,” Elliott said.
Elliott said the new development will be beneficial for the community for years to come.
“I think, for young personnel, young workers who will be the workforce in downtown in the next four decades, this is the product that they’re looking for that’s missing in downtown,” Elliot said.
Elliott said Market Center is a $10 million investment. The entire project will cost anywhere from $85 million to $100 million.Developers hope to have Market Center up and running by April 2019.
