UP IN THE AIR Pandemic alters Triad office landscape, but much is still to be settled

Though vaccines have arrived and provided an infusion of public confidence in a recovery, widespread uncertainty about the future of business offices remains — not only about how much of the workforce will return, but what future offices will look like.


"Clearly, there is less demand for office space post-Covid," said developer Tim Elliott, whose Elliott Sidewalk Communities is on schedule to open the 275 N. Elm office building this summer next to Truist Point baseball stadium in downtown High Point. "Downsizing is the discussion. Most of our office prospects are “downsizing” from existing leases coming up for expiration in the next year or so."
